The Challenge
Most people globally who need better financial services are intimidated by crypto complexity and don't understand terms like "DeFi," "self-custody," or "blockchain." But traditional money transfer services charge high fees, and banks require extensive documentation and exclude millions of marginalized people. The ask: Build a DeFi protocol from the ground up and wrap it in a consumer product that makes sending money and building wealth as simple as email, delivering the benefits of decentralized finance without exposing any of the complexity.
The Approach
We built the complete DeFi protocol from scratch (smart contracts, USDC integration, self-custody wallet system, and interest mechanics) then wrapped it in a consumer-friendly interface that completely hides the complexity. Rather than explaining blockchain technology, we focused on tangible benefits: send money to anyone with an email, earn 5% APY with no fees, backed by the US digital dollar. The interface feels like a banking app, not a crypto wallet. A 30-day closed beta with non-crypto-native users validated that the repositioning worked.
